The Bihar Board has revised the pattern of the Class 11 examination held in 2026. The same has been aligned with the new state education reforms to make the students master conceptual understanding. 1. Competency Based Learning

 The Bihar Board Class 11 Exam Pattern 2026 is expected to follow the national educational reforms with competency based learning where the kids are encouraged to apply knowledge rather than mugging it up.

  • MCQs: Be prepared to see more of MCQs and casecbased questions that are designed to test how much you have understood and can apply.

  • Short and Long Answer Questions: A mix of short and long answer questions will check the understanding of students.

2. Reworked Marking Scheme and Weightage

The new 2026 exam pattern brings a change in weightage to be given to theory, practical exams, and internal assessments. The three types of assessment have allowed the new marking scheme to help students deliver consistently.

 Physics, Chemistry and Biology

  • Theory Exam: Theory Exam contains70% of total marks. MCQs, Short Answer questions and Descriptive Questions.

  • Practical Exam: Practical Exam contains 30% of total score or Experiments, Record work and Viva.

  • Internal Assessment: Internal Assessment, Assignment, Class activities and Periodical Tests 10-20% of score.

Mathematics

  • Theory Paper:  The Theory Paper 100% Theory oriented with a focus on problem-solving and analytical questions.

  • Internal Assessment: Accounts for 20% of the marks through class assignments and tests that are taken at regular intervals.

 Hindi 

  • Theory Paper: MCQs (Objective Questions) contains Approximately 20% of the paper, Short-Answer Questions Focus on understanding of prose and poetry. Grammar Section contains specific questions on Hindi grammar rules, sentence construction, and vocabulary.

  • Internal Assessment: It is of 20 marks and include project work, oral assessments, and regular classroom tests on Hindi grammar, comprehension, and essay writing.

English 

  • Theory Paper: It includes reading comprehension passages with questions on comprehension, vocabulary, and inference. Grammar Section includes Questions based on English grammar rules including sentence correction, fill-in-the-blanks, and transformations. Literature Section Questions on prescribed prose, poetry, and drama; includes short and long-answer questions analyzing themes, characters, and literary devices.

  • Internal Assessment: It is of 20 marks and it includes project work, oral tests, and classroom activities focused on communication skills, grammar, and comprehension exercises.
